Land & Knowledge Acknowledgment
Maternal Development was developed on Indigenous lands and within a much longer history of Indigenous knowledge about mothers, kinship, birth, caregiving, and human development. We acknowledge the Indigenous peoples who have stewarded—and continue to steward—the lands on which this work has been created, as well as the knowledge traditions that long preceded the formal disciplines with which this field is in conversation.
This acknowledgment is not intended to collapse Indigenous knowledge into Maternal Development, nor to position a contemporary academic framework as the authority through which Indigenous knowledge becomes legible. It recognizes instead that knowledge about mothers, birth, kinship, caregiving, relationship, and human development long predates the Western academic disciplines with which Maternal Development is now in conversation.
